May socks are coming along nicely. I’m using some of the wool that my dear mom sent in a package a few months ago. These are the colors that came along, so these are the colors I’m using. The pattern is “Skew” from Knitty.com. These are possibly the most interesting socks I’ve knit all year. They’re on the bias, which means when you get to the heel, it goes all crazy pants. Then you kitchener stitch two random parts together and magically, you have a heel! Brilliant! I don’t even understand how these socks work at all, but I have a bit of a feeling that next year’s Christmas socks might just all be diagonally striped. I really want to try this with a variegated or self-striping sock yarn when I get back to America!
For these guys I’m already half way through with the second sock, and I anticipate a lot of knitting time this weekend! Woo!
